TI-84 Evo: Texas Instruments’ New Graphing Calculator (2026)
Note (October 2026): details below are based on publicly available reports and may change before release.
Texas Instruments reportedly launched the TI-84 Evo in April 2026 — described as the most powerful TI-84 ever built. If you’re deciding between the classic TI-84 Plus CE and the new Evo, here is everything that changed.
What’s New in the TI-84 Evo
- 3x faster processor — graphs render smoother and tracing is noticeably quicker than the Plus CE.
- 50% more graphing space — the display area grew from 264×165 pixels to 319×209, so you see more of the math at once.
- Redesigned keypad — less clutter, faster data entry, but still the classic TI-84 feel.
- USB-C charging — the old mini-USB port is finally gone.
- Icon-based menu — a visual home screen that surfaces the most-used math apps, so beginners spend less time learning the tool.
- 3.5 MB memory — more room for apps and data.
- New math features — Points of Interest Trace and an improved Lines and Conics app for exploring intersections and conics with fewer taps.
Price and Colors
The TI-84 Evo reportedly launched at $160 — about $10–40 more than the typical street price of the TI-84 Plus CE. It comes in multiple colors (white, mint, pink, purple, teal, raspberry, silver), and includes a protective slide case plus a four-year online calculator subscription.
Exam Approval
Like the Plus CE, the TI-84 Evo is reported to be approved for the SAT, ACT, AP, and IB exams. It is deliberately a single-purpose device — no Wi-Fi, no notifications, no social media — which is exactly what testing bodies require. As schools increasingly restrict phones in classrooms, TI is positioning the Evo as the distraction-free standard.
